We Believe

We Believe

New Heights Baptist Church Tulsa is distinctive.

We are an independent, fundamental, Bible-believing Baptist church in Tulsa, OK. Previously, when people stood up for what they believed, they were said to have character. Nowadays, they are called intolerant, old-fashioned, or out-of-touch. However holiness, meaning “set apart” or “other than,” which makes people do right, is still in fashion at New Heights Baptist Church in Tulsa. We believe in time-tested truths, preached with relevance and compassion. We believe that Jesus alone offers the peace and steadfastness people are seeking!

The King James Bible is our Sole Authority for Faith and Practice

II Timothy 3:16-17, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”

The Autonomy of the Local Church

Colossians 1:18, “And he [Christ] is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.”

The Priesthood of Every Believer

1 Peter 2:5, “Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.”

Two Ordinances: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

Acts 8:36-38, “And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.”

1 Corinthians 11:26 “For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.”

Individual Soul Liberty

Romans 14:12 “So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.”

Saved, Baptized, Church Membership

Acts 2:47 “Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”

Two Offices: Pastor and Deacon

1 Timothy 3:1, “This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.”

1 Timothy 3:13 “For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.”

Separation of Church and State

Matthew 22:20 “And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? They say unto him, Caesar’s. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.”
